A leech in the bathroom: when nature visits your home without warning

The first warning wasn’t a scream.

It was a tiny movement.

At first, that strange speck on the bathroom tile looked harmless—just a piece of dirt, maybe a bit of plastic left behind. But it wasn’t lying flat. It seemed to be moving… slowly, almost deliberately.

Then it twitched.

And suddenly, the entire room felt different.

What looked like ordinary trash was alive.

A leech.

It’s frightening how quickly the familiar can become unsettling. One moment, the bathroom is nothing more than a place of showers, mirrors, and rushed mornings. The next, a tiny, pulsing creature on the floor shatters that sense of safety.

The closer we looked, the more disturbing it became.

How did it get inside?

How long had it been there?

And perhaps the creepiest question of all—had we been walking past it without ever noticing?

After that moment, the bathroom never quite felt the same.

The tiles hadn’t changed. The drain was still there. Nothing about the room looked different.

But we were different.

We started checking the corners before stepping inside. Looking around the drain. Watching the floor instead of assuming it was clean.

Because sometimes, it only takes one tiny creature to expose how little we actually notice.

A home may feel completely sealed from the outside world…

but nature has a way of finding the smallest opening.

And sometimes, the thing that makes you look twice isn’t something loud or dangerous.

It’s something tiny.

Something alive.

Something quietly moving across the floor while you thought you were completely safe.
