I need help with this!

High Cholesterol Doesn’t Hurt—Until It Does.

You may feel perfectly healthy while cholesterol is quietly changing what’s happening inside your arteries.

For many people, there’s no warning. No pain. No obvious symptoms. Sometimes, the first sign is a heart attack, a stroke, or a doctor saying, “We caught it just in time.”

That’s what makes high cholesterol so dangerous.

Over time, too much LDL (“bad”) cholesterol can contribute to plaque buildup inside your arteries. As plaque accumulates, arteries can become narrower and less flexible, reducing blood flow to vital organs. Eventually, a blocked artery can trigger a heart attack or stroke—sometimes with little or no warning.

But here’s the good news: you’re not powerless.

Your daily choices can influence your cholesterol levels and your long-term heart health.

🥗 Start with your plate. Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, and other fiber-rich foods. Choose healthy fats more often, while limiting foods high in saturated and trans fats, excess added sugars, and highly processed ingredients.

🏃 Keep moving. Regular physical activity can help improve your cholesterol profile and strengthen your heart and blood vessels.

😴 Protect your sleep and manage stress. Poor sleep and chronic stress can affect the behaviors and metabolic factors that influence cardiovascular health.

🩺 Know your numbers. Regular lipid testing can reveal problems before you feel them. And if lifestyle changes aren’t enough, cholesterol-lowering medication may be an important part of your treatment plan.

High cholesterol doesn’t have to control your future.

The earlier you know your numbers and take action, the more opportunity you have to protect your heart and brain. With consistent lifestyle choices, regular monitoring, and guidance from your healthcare team, a silent risk can become a risk you actively manage.
